Our Goals
Parents for Public Charter Schools advocates for a policy-agenda grounded in three core principles:
1. Choice: We believe that all parents utilizing the public-school system should be able to choose where and how their children are educated. That choice should include traditional public schools, public charter schools, or public virtual charter schools. Public resources should follow children to wherever they are educated.
2. Competition: We support competition among schools to attract and retain students as a means of guaranteeing quality improvements. When parents can choose where and how to educate their children, schools are encouraged to improve, innovate, and respond to new challenges. Without that competition, they become stagnant and ineffective.
3. Funding Equity: We support funding equity for all public-school students, including charter schools. Students attending a public school should have approximately the same level of resources on a per pupil basis as any other public school in the state. No students should be punished or face reduced state or local support for choosing to attend a public charter or public virtual charter schools.
